Elisabeth Cohn-Gelwasser, M.D. - Internal and Bariatric Medicine
Dr. Elisabeth Cohn-Gelwasser, has been practicing Internal Medicine in South Florida for more than 15 years. A true Miami native, Dr. Cohn-Gelwasser grew up in Hollywood, FL, where she now lives with her husband and son. Cohn-Gelwasser received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Miami. She made the Dean’s List every semester and she was a member of the prestigious Golden Key National Honor Society.
After attending graduate school at Florida International University for a year, she entered University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine, receiving her M.D. in 1989. Cohn-Gelwasser completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland in 1992. After serving as an attending physician for a year in Baltimore, MD, she returned to the sunshine state to work in a private practice.
Cohn-Gelwasser is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the National Board of Medical Examiners. She continues to be active in the medical community as a member of the Aetna US Healthcare Credentialing and Performance Committee, the Memorial Hospital Pembroke Medical Staff Ethics Committee and the Consultant of Advisor Board Committee for Novartis Pharmaceutical Company. Cohn-Gelwasser is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Medicine, the Broward County Medical Association and the Florida Medical Association. Dr. Cohn-Gelwasser is the medical expert on ABC’s local 10.com weight loss reality show, the Get Fit Club and the upcoming TV show, Absolute Weight Loss.
Maritza Henderson - Fitness Instructor
Maritza Henderson, a Fitness Specialist, who has more than 15 years of experience in training men and women of all fitness levels. She offers her expertise in Hollywood, Weston, and the Fort Lauderdale area. With Gabi Rose, she is responsible for helping patients with personal training and exercise programs. Both group and individual fitness classes feature customized workouts targeted to specific weight loss and fitness goals.
She is certified by the Aerobic and Fitness Association in personal training, group exercise, kick boxing, spinning, mat Pilates and many other programs of fitness. Maritza Henderson has completed the course Xtend Pilates and dance AMPplified.
Her clients are her inspiration and many will tell you that they owe their current level of well-being to her. She owes her success to her enthusiastic passion and commitment to improving lifestyle and longevity in the fitness field. Her joy is making sure members reach their fitness goals while working the body from the inside out. She constantly upgrades her knowledge and skills in health and fitness with continuing education through Reebok University, Conference, FiTour, IDEA and A.F.A.A. Maritza also performed with the Royal Academy of Ballet in Mexico. She is a true motivator and gifted teacher and an inspiration to everyone she comes into contact with, while motivating them to achieve their goals
Alexandra James - Assistant
Alexandra James, assistant to Gabi Rose, has over 20 years’ experience in the travel and hospitality industry specializing in meeting and event planning. She decided that her "calling" was in weight loss after winning the weight battle herself, and losing 100 lbs.
Alexandra learned, through trial and error, that it is a complete lifestyle change, incorporating good nutrition and fitness, in order to maintain the weight loss.
Joining Gabi Rose was an easy decision after meeting Gabi Rose and Dr. Cohn-Gelwasser and learning how the center provides patients with the tools that are needed to succeed in making the change to a healthy lifestyle. Alexandra has planned and escorted groups from 16 to 900 people. Yet nothing has been more satisfying than helping people achieve their weight loss goals and change their life.
